Based on the most recent data from the United States Renal Data System (USRDS) and the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) 33,630 New Yorkers were on dialysis; 7,119 on the waitlist; and 2,185 received a kidney transplant.
Of the 33,630 New Yorkers currently on dialysis, approximately 70–74% identify as racial or ethnic minorities. But sadly, many more Minorities are already in the early stages of kidney decline and don't even know it. In fact, medical estimates are that 90% of our customers do not know they have Chronic Kidney Disease.
We have tasked ourselves to carry out the mission of increasing the awareness of our customers who are most at risk for kidney disease. We believe we have a winning approach to changing this growing disparity.
